Design Inspiration

I am inspired by the world around me, both natural and urban landscapes, from the big skies of Norfolk to the street art of Berlin.  I love exploring a new city or country..mostly on foot!Oslo

I lived in Oslo as a small child in 1972 when my Dad was stationed there, I can’t remember much about where we lived, but on returning I can see why both my parents loved the lifestyle and the people.. Today’s Oslo is a hip and cool hangout for everything that is cool…it has a lovely familiar feel to the bars and small shops, embracing vintage and urban style with effortless ease. I visited in March this year, still cold, but the colours were inspiring on our island adventure. We had lunch in  the Retrolykke Kaffebar  in the popular Grunerlokka area with it’s beautiful vintage interior, I was instantly hooked..and I used the vintage lamps hanging in the window for my painted design on the Norwegian ski smock.

We bought a house in a town called Martos (Andalusia) in 2013 and are slowly renovating it whilst holidaying there..we have encountered a lot of red tape..many public holidays when nothing can be sorted and have had to learn technical words in Spanish. I am inspired by the mountains, the thousands of olive trees, colours and the light. The design for the Andalusian snood was inspired by our visits to Embalse de Los Bermejales   lovely for swimming. A hidden gem…

I love festivals, it’s just the way you feel like you are escaping the outside world, you just sing and dance when and where you is a big part of my life and I am always embracing new music, from electronica to hip hop..I’m on it! This love of festivals and all things festival- like inspired the designs for the parka and snoods in the festival range. If you love the weird and wonderful then it’s Bestival for you, if you love laid back vibes it’s Latitude and Isle of Wight for awesome acts (will always be Fleetwood Mac for me in 2015) who played on my Birthday, as requested..
